The A-DVICE project (2023-2024) led by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) will provide advice for policy development to implement, mainstream and upscale naturebased solutions in the Nordics.
This is the third of five projects financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ NBS programme.
A-DVICE is co-led by Danish consultancy Norion, with the Nordic project partners VTT (Finland), Ensucon AB (Sweden) and University of Iceland. Read more about the project partners.

Building on previous results
The A-DVICE project will provide applicable advice and suggestions for policy development to mainstream and upscale NBS, taking into account aspects like promotion, incentives, planning and implementation, maintenance and monitoring of NBS at national, regional and local level in the Nordic region.
This includes dissemination of examples and learning points from across the region, specifying ways of implementing recommendations from S-ITUATION,
S-UMMATION, the NordGen Crop Wild Relative project and the report ‘Synergies between climate and biodiversity objectives in laws, policies and management practices’ led by Norion.
The advice and suggestions will be based on consultations and inputs from key stakeholders on gaps and barriers, enablers and success stories, as well as potentials for synergies and policy development.
Project organisation
A-DVICE consists of five work packages oriented towards answering the needs for advice on policy development to support mainstreaming and upscaling of NBS in the Nordics.
We have divided the responsibilities for leading the different work packages (WPs) and tasks as shown in the figure below according to areas of expertise and relevant experience of the consortium partners.
